Everyone should be able to use this site
For a long time now, our door in Clear Lake has been open to everyone who walks in. We want this website to feel the same way. Eye Trends Vision & Glasses Center, led by Dr. Jerry Hyder, offers comprehensive eye care and optical for Clear Lake and the greater Houston area, and we want every neighbor to be able to use this site comfortably and reach us however they browse. That is the same welcome we give you in person.
An honest, ongoing effort. This is an honest, ongoing effort, not a finished checklist. We work on the site the way we work with patients: we keep looking for what could be better, and we fix the gaps we find. We are not claiming the site is perfect or fully barrier-free, and we hold no accessibility certification. What we can tell you is that we take this seriously and keep at it.
How we build this site
We build this site to be modern, clean, and calm to use, with the same unhurried feeling we aim for in the exam room. In plain terms, that means generous whitespace so pages never feel crowded, legible type at a comfortable size, and clear contrast between the words and the background so text is easy to read. Links tell you where they go instead of just saying "click here." The fields on our booking and contact forms are labeled, so it is clear what each one is asking for. You can move through the navigation with a keyboard, not only a mouse. And the images that carry real meaning include descriptive alt text, so a screen reader can describe them out loud.
The standard we aim for
We work toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), the widely recognized standard for making websites usable by as many people as possible. We try to apply it across the whole site, not only the main pages. The navigation, the forms you use to reach us, and the footer with our address, phone number, hours, and legal links are held to that same standard, because those are the parts you rely on to actually get in touch and book a visit.
